2006 Field Hockey Goal-A-Thon

On January 14, 2006, the Delaware Stingers Field Hockey Club will be giving 100% of it's effort to score 100 goals in it's Third Annual Field Hockey Goal-A-Thon. The members of the DSFHC will donate an entire day to playing indoor field hockey games, until they have scored 100 goals! This is a huge challenge, but the Stingers are up for it!

Delaware Stingers Field Hockey Club is the first field hockey club to represent Sussex County. It is the fastest growing field hockey club in Delaware, with over --- players. The members come from every school in Sussex County, and they range in age from 3rd grade to freshmen in college! Delaware Stingers has participated in numerous tournaments in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida.

We are trying to raise money to attend field hockey camps, buy new uniforms and goalie equipment, and to attend the National Hockey Festival 2006, which will be held in California around Thanksgiving. It costs over $600 to properly outfit one goalie; field hockey camps start at $400 per week; attending the National Hockey Player will cost over $1500 per player to attend. Players who attend tournaments and the National Hockey Festival receive great exposure by being seen by college scouts. One of our players was offered a scholarship after being seen at one of the tournaments. At the National Hockey Festivals in 2004 and 2005, much of our team received recruitment letters from all the different college coaches that attend.
