Indoor 2005-2006

Indoor season is fast approaching!! I need to know who is interested in playing again, and what team you think you would be on, U14, U16 or U19. Everyone from the U19 team last year has graduated, so the entire U19 team is open. In order to be U14, you must be under the age of 14 as of January 1, 2006. The same goes for the rest of the age groups. If you feel like you have the skill level to move up to an older division than you belong in, that may be an option.

I need to know who is playing and what team you are on. This is important so we can get the uniform situation worked out as soon as possible. Since the U19 team will probably have a lot of people on it that played in the National Festival this year, they will most likely go with the type of uniforms that the U19 team had last year, and that are being worn in the Festival this year.

Our plans are to travel to some tournaments (with U19 traveling to the most, like last year), and to enter the U16 and U19 in the National Qualifying Tournament. If games are like last year, we will also be playing in the Kent County Parks & Rec league, which will be played at Wesley College, on Sundays. Game times can be anywhere from 9:00 am to 4-5:00 pm. We usually have 1 game and 1 practice each week. Practices are usually on a week night, and are held the Woodbridge Elementary School gymnasium in Greenwood.

Please let me know if you are playing as soon as you can. We need to order uniforms, and if we need more people outside of Stingers, we need to ask them soon as well. Thanks!!!

Recently, Monika Smith and Leslie Messick played in the Kent County Clash Field Hockey Tournament. The girls played with Delaware Shore Field Hockey Club and they made it all the way to the championship game! They came in second place with a record of 6-3-1. Monika Smith scored 5 goals for the day, 2 of them on strokes, and Leslie Messick had many defensive saves. After playing 10 thirty-minute games, they went and played for Delaware Stingers adult league. Good job and thanks to the very sore and tired girls!!

Lizzie Perciful also made clean tackles all game long on defense and Kyrra Lewandowski did a great job at mid-field, even though it was only her second time ever playing it. "Opportunity dances with those who are already on the dance floor."

"Play  For Her"

"Somewhere behind the athlete you've become, and the hours of practice, and the coaches who pushed you, and the teammates who believe in you, is the little girl who picked up a hockey stick, the one who fell in love with the game, and never looked back.... PLAY FOR HER."

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot & missed. I've failed over & over & over again in my life, & that is why I succeed." ~Michael Jordan #23

Sports are:

"Sport is a metaphor for life. I've learned a lot about myself during the
long hours of practice...I learned you can give 110%, set goals and still
not reach them. I've learned sometimes when the pain is intolerable, you
have to swallow your pride, grit your teeth, silence the tears, and run.
I've learned to stick with it, and keep trying, long after everyone else has
abandoned the cause. I've learned there are no failures, only temporary
setbacks. I've learned that the perfect team often loses, and occasionally
the underdog triumphs. I've learned that teammates have an invisible bond
with each other, a bond that can never be broken, a bond of dedication,
love, and respect."

Educational Camps, and Clinics for players and coaches.

A place for our indoor Team to practice and play on in the winter.

An actual practice and play field including: land preparation, planting grass, keeping up the field, (including irrigation), bleachers and a second set of Goal cages. (As you may or may not know there is no field available to play on in the Woodbridge school district in the spring or summer.  The Woodbridge Jr High team basically practiced in someone's back yard last year during their season!)  I am willing to donate land just outside of Bridgeville off of my family farm for the fields to be set on.
