Summer Camps 2004

"Building for the Future"

The Delaware Stingers Field Hockey Club wants to help you in "Building for the Future." In the past 2 years we have grown to over 80 members from all over Sussex County playing indoor hockey and field hockey. Our love for hockey has inspired us to help others gain skills and appreciation for the sport as well! What better way than in a camping experience can we share our knowledge and love for the game. Our camp will focus on individual skills and team play. We are committed to making you a better, stronger player, and to helping you develop your self-confidence. Most importantly, we want you to fall in love with field hockey!

We will be offering 2 weeks of camp and campers can attend one or both weeks. Camp will take place at Woodbridge High school. Campers must have a stick, shin guards, and mouth guard. Camp will be from 9am till 12 noon daily. Cost is $60 per week and space is limited.

Week 1: August 2 - 6 (grades 3-8) 9 am till 12 noon

Week 2: August 9 - 13 (grades 3-8) 9 am till 12 noon

Beach Bash Field Hockey Tournament

May 1-2, 2004

At Rehoboth Elementary School in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware We have registered our team and are planning to go! This is for U19 and I need to get a count on who can go ASAP! If you play U14 and are interested in playing in this please let me know too. I may have some room for you! Lloydlee@dol.net

Games will be Full-Field (11 vs. 11) with 25 minute halves

We are Planning to play Summer League in Dover and here is what we plan to have:

An Adult league team!

A High school team!

A Middle/JV team!

We are planning to have our own Delaware Stinger Elementary school camp and a Delaware Stinger Middle School camp. We are looking at the first two weeks of August. These will be Morning camps and last a week long! Stay tuned for more information in the very near future!

We will also be competing in several tournaments, Beach Bash in May and the Kent County Clash in June or July.

Goalie Camps

The position of goalie requires specialized instruction. At Shot Stoppers Goalie School, this instruction will emphasize proper technique in a controlled setting. Proper warm-up, stretching, agility and plyometrics will be taught along with "skills and techniques." Goalie success is related DIRECTLY to repetition of skills that are fundamentally sound.

Delaware Stinger Walk a thon Winners

"Congrats" to all the girls that walked and collected money for the Lions Club "Journey for Sight" walk a thon held at trap pond. Walkers included Nicole, Stacey, Becca, Vivian, Sierra, Kyrra, Molly, and Lizzie. Our Stingers raised $575.00 to help the Lions club, and 287.50 to help our stingers club. :-) The walk was 4.8 miles and was way far enough for me!! LOL Hotdogs and drinks were enjoyed at the end!! Way to go Girls!! :-) And Here is your pic!! :-)

National Hockey Festival 2004

We are planning to attend the National hockey festival in Palm Beach Co., Fla. for the 2004 Festival, Nov. 25-28 2004. (over Thanksgiving break.) It will be an outdoor field hockey tournament for U19 and most of you will be eligible to try and go. Also we need to start now getting in shape so we all will look good in our swimsuits on the beach!! LOL I have got a year to get it together now!! LOL

Summer League Field Hockey 2004

We will be playing summer league in Dover again this year. Our plans are to have a high school team and an Adult league team. You cannot have graduated high school to play on the high school team.

The Delaware Stingers now has a tax I D number and a Bank account!! All checks should be made payable to "Delaware Stingers" in the Future! With that said.... We are also looking for sponsors. We have several major purchases to be made:

Entry fees for the many tournaments we attend. (both Indoor and Outdoor)

Educational Camps, and Clinics for players and coaches.

A place for our indoor Team to practice and play on in the winter.

An actual practice and play field including: land preparation, planting grass, keeping up the field, (including irrigation), bleachers and a second set of Goal cages. (As you may or may not know there is no field available to play on in the Woodbridge school district in the spring or summer. The Woodbridge Jr High team basically practiced in someone's back yard last year during their season!) I am willing to donate land just outside of Bridgeville off of my family farm for the fields to be set on.
