Delaware Stingers Field Hockey

Rachel scored first for us and Lindsey followed in the second half with a fantastic rebound shot on Goal! Way to go Girls!! That was Lindsey's first goal of the season!! :-) Lauren, Sarah, and Monika put in a great game as did Ashley on the front line! Midi's Stacey, Jordan, and Amber did a great job too! Backs Chelsea and Lori did a wonderful job as did Leah and Nicole in the goal cage!! Amanda was welcomed back from vacation as no one wanted to play sweep while she was gone!! :-) Great job girls your looking good!! :-)

Jordan connected...... on what had to be the most beautiful pass and shot combination I have seen so far this season! WOW!! It was Jordan's first goal of the Season and gave us a 1-0 lead! Sarah scored her goal in the second half and that put us over the edge to beat the Buc's 2-1. Playing with only 10 peeps and then only 9 it was a good win for us! Front line players included Jordan, Ashley, Sarah, and Monika! Midi's were (of Course) Stacey, Lindsey, and Amber. Chelsea was our loan back and did a great job too! Amanda S. played sweep and Leah was our goalie!! Great job Girls! Your really coming together as a Team!! :-) Oh yea..... Did I mention.... I love you girls!!!!!!!!

You've come along way girls from from that first game of the season 7 - 2 Loss to CR....... To beating them 1-0 in your last game of the Season! In fact you have been pretty much on fire here at the end of the season. We finished at 6-6 but we could have and should have won 3 of the close ones so that would have put you at 9-3. But as a first year team with some girls in middle school still I think you have done wonderfully!! WOW!!

Our winning goal was scored by Lauren!! You Go girl!! Our Front Line consisted also of Monika, Sarah, Rachel, and Ashley, who all played super!!! Midi's were Lindsey, Stacey, and Amber, and you girls just really rock. Backs were Lori, Chelsea and Melissa while sweeping duties were shared by Amanda L. and Jasmine and again just a great job by you all too! . Nicole did a super job at goalie holding CR scoreless!!

Well girls.... the summer season is over and I am hoping that this has gotten you ready for school ball and if this season is any indication..... I think your gonna do pretty darn good at fall ball too!! :-) I have watched many of you really improve from that winter league team first game at the Seaford Boys and Girls club!! Wow!! Keep up the great work!!

The Delaware Stingers now has a tax I D number and a Bank account!! All checks should be made payable to "Delaware Stingers" in the Future! With that said.... We are also looking for sponsors. We have several major purchases to be made:

An actual practice and play field including: land preparation, planting grass, keeping up the field, (including irrigation), bleachers and a second set of Goal cages. (As you may or may not know there is no field available to play on in the Woodbridge school district in the spring or summer. The Woodbridge Jr High team basically practiced in someone's back yard last year during their season!) I am willing to donate land just outside of Bridgeville off of my family farm for the fields to be set on.

7 - Aside tournament!

Saturday, August 9th and 10th

(At the USA Field Hockey Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va.)
This tournament is to be held on Astroturf and will be played mostly with outdoor rules. Approximately 48 teams are expected from all over the nation! The field will play much like what we played on in Salisbury and be slightly larger but not full size! I can take a max of 12 players. In case of rain the tournament will end on Sunday! (this is an outside tournament) We will most likely be leaving on Friday and spending Friday night in Va beach! I will let you know more as soon as information becomes available!!! My plan is to assemble a U14 team who will play with us next season and try to qualify for nationals!! This will be an Indoor Team and I will talk more to you all about this!! You must be under age 14 as of January 1st 2004.

Of course we are gonna have one!! I'm counting on many of you returning from last year and us only picking up a few peeps!! Keep on the look out for more info!!

Our New goal cages have actually arrived!!! They are really nice!! Yea!! I have put one up in the lot beside my house and If you wanna come and shoot on it just help yourself!!! If I am not here that's cool.... just go ahead and use it. Practice, Practice, Practice!! LOL Well have fun with it at least!! (Try to keep the balls outa my fish pond.....too!!) LOL
