VCU 7 vs 7 Turf tournament
Saturday,  August 5, 2006
We are off to VCU again this year for a 7 vs. 7 turf tournament on Saturday August 5th. We would stay the Friday night before!  This is a U19 tournament and we would definitely need to take a goalie! And yes it will be hot there! LOL  The estimated cost is $50 for Friday night's room and the tournament entry fee! We would also be very close to King's Dominion and could possibly do a group thing that Friday if you were interested! That would def cost more! :-) This first come first serve! We could have more than one team if people were interested!  Let me know right  away!

Okay .... our Roadhouse Fundraiser for this year is officially set. It will be December 13th 2006, from 6 to 8 pm at the Roadhouse Steak Joint in Rehoboth. We will need older girls to hostess and bus tables from 6pm to 8pm  We will also be selling chances on raffles and silent auction items, that our girls can be any age to sell and..... The most important part is that you have all your stinger family and friends go and actually eat that day or evening because we get %10 of all the money taken in that day! So Mark your calendar now and lets make this a great fundraiser!  Mark your calendar now!  Dec 13th 2006.

Summer League Information

Click here for the Summer League Waiver Form

Okay girls here is all the Information on Summer league! I will need responses and money by May 5th!  This is the date because I need to order Uniforms! Right now we have aprox 24 people tentatively signed up for the High school team and 19 people for the adult team. Your money will assure you a spot on the team.  If we get more players to sign up and pay there is a possibility  that we would have a younger and an older high school age team. I would need to know that right away. (Taking a team of 24 for the High School isn't high on my desires right now, that's too many people).  Some of you have signed up your friends for summer league, and I don't have their contact information. Pass this email onto your friend and have her email me from their account so that I have a way to get in touch with her. Please send what you need for your uniform, your sizes and number choices. Shorts should be ordered in a size larger than what you normally wear! All Games will be in Dover either at Shutte Park or Dover Park. Everyone needs to sign and turn in their waiver form when they sign up. Parents for under 18 need to sign. Here is that link:  www.lloydlee.com/DelawareStingerssummerwaverform.htm

Checks should be made payable to: Delaware Stingers

and Mailed along with their uniform information before May 5th to:

2006 Summer League High School Team

Coaches: Lloydlee Heite, Leslie Messick. Monika Smith

Captains: Jen Short, Sara McCabe, Chelsea Collison & Sara McCabe

Below you will find the master chart for what everyone did all summer as far as games, practices and  activities you participated in. If you cannot read it I suggest you go to our website and look at it there. :-) While we had great turnouts for our team  building activities, I Really wish many more of you had participated in the team  bonding experiences and activities and would like to remind you that every opportunity you are being given is a good one and  one you need to try to take part in!  I know that many of you who participated have grown closer and  really  had a great time as well as making new friends. You can tell that, by the many Photos up on our website, and how you all act around each other when you play each other on the high school  hockey field. You all are a family!

You all actually  finished in 3rd place out of 8 teams this year in the Dover league. Only CR and Lake where ahead of you and not by much! We had many games that 20 or more players showed up for and that speaks well for your level of commitment and your love of the game!

While I think you all did just a fantastic job this summer and I wish I  could recognize all of you, several of you have done just a stand out/super job.   While there is no trophy,  these results are how I, and your teammates, and your Captains feel about you. And with that said.... on with the Recognition!  Congratulations to all of you for a great Season and Bing such a Great Group of Girls! :-) Love ya Lloydlee

Your Summer League Practice Schedule:

We will be practicing  for summer league on Monday nights from 6:30 pm till dark at the Woodbridge Farm Fields.   Summer league players that show up for practice will be give first playing opportunities when its game time in summer league!  The schedule is as follows:

Monday Night May 22nd 6:30 pm till dark Woodbridge Farm Fields. (High School and Adult)

Monday Night May 29 6:30 pm till dark Woodbridge Farm Fields. (High School and Adult)

Monday Night June 5th  5:30 pm till dark Polytech High School Scrimmage. (Players who came to the first two practices will get the most playing time here) This is a referee play day to help train officials. Lake, Polytech, and Stingers have been invited to play! This will be the last practice before we start! We will not practice  once the season starts.

We are introducing several new rules for this year's  Summer League teams:

1. Players who miss more than 60% of the games will need to tryout for a spot on next seasons indoor teams. Excused absences will be notes from  your doctor or attending a field hockey camp.
2. Our present players will always be given the first chance to sign up and play. We are in the spring season now!
3. Players who don't come to practices and games will get limited playing time compared to the players who come to everything!
4. Players who play year round get more playing time than occasional seasonal players.
5. National Festival Players will get more playing time than any others.
6. Captains will be named by their coach and you will need to come up with one after game activity per week.
7. All Players financial obligations must be paid before you will be signed up. Several people still owe money from Goal-a-thon this year because they didn't collect any money,  people still owe money from last years summer league, and several people still owe for spring tournaments.

*All Summer League Players are expected to participate in any fundraisers during the season!  Well that's the plan! Looks like a great summer! Get your information and money in now!

Goal Keeping Camp

Several of our goalies have attended the shot stoppers goalie camp in Maryland.  2 years ago, I attended with Nicole Bailey for just one day and I learned a ton of good goalie information!  The camp is run by John Kovach, and I would highly recommend it to any goalie. here is the link..

"Opportunity dances with those who are already on the dance floor."

"Play  For Her"

"Somewhere behind the athlete you've become, and the hours of practice, and the coaches who pushed you, and the teammates who believe in you, is the little girl who picked up a hockey stick, the one who fell in love with the game, and never looked back.... PLAY FOR HER."

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot & missed. I've failed over & over & over again in my life, & that is why I succeed." ~Michael Jordan #23

Sports are:

"Sport is a metaphor for life. I've learned a lot about myself during the
long hours of practice...I learned you can give 110%, set goals and still
not reach them. I've learned sometimes when the pain is intolerable, you
have to swallow your pride, grit your teeth, silence the tears, and run.
I've learned to stick with it, and keep trying, long after everyone else has
abandoned the cause. I've learned there are no failures, only temporary
setbacks. I've learned that the perfect team often loses, and occasionally
the underdog triumphs. I've learned that teammates have an invisible bond
with each other, a bond that can never be broken, a bond of dedication,
love, and respect."

A place for our indoor Team to practice and play on in the winter.

An actual practice and play field including: land preparation, planting grass, keeping up the field, (including irrigation), bleachers and a second set of Goal cages. (As you may or may not know there is no field available to play on in the Woodbridge school district in the spring or summer.  The Woodbridge Jr High team basically practiced in someone's back yard last year during their season!)  I am willing to donate land just outside of Bridgeville off of my family farm for the fields to be set on.
